About a year ago, around Christmas time 2013, I’m not sure how but I stumbled across the blog of a wedding photographer in the Virginia Beach area, Amanda Hedgepeth. Not only did a love her images and style but she was just so honest and easy to relate to!! Maybe its because we both have little girls, I’m not sure, but I’ve followed her blog and work ever since! She’s so inspirational, from how she started her business, got to where she is now, how she takes such good care of her clients, captures beautiful images, and the biggest and best of it all, is the mommy to two little adorable girls!!
This past month I was lucky enough to be able to have a mentoring session with Amanda where she now lives, the Outer Banks, North Carolina. It was so awesome to be able to fly down for the day and meet her and learn so much! She comes off so upbeat and bubbly on her blog and she REALLY is that way!!
It was a long day for me, but so worth it! And.. it was my very FIRST overnight away from my little lady. I was SO nervous about leaving her. So nervous. I flew out of Grand Rapids 6am and flew out of Norfolk at 6am the next morning to go home. Ally stayed with her Nana (my mom) and she did perfectly fine!!! I was so relieved. I’d literally never been away from her for more than 5 or 6 hours!
Anyways, being able to mentor with Amanda was so worth the travel. She taught me so much and really helped me understand what I need to do to take my next steps in this industry!!
It was a windy and drizzly day in the Outer Banks while I was there, but it didn’t take away from the beauty of that place! It truly does have a different feel there. The air is soft. It’s just different from the typical hustle of everywhere else. Despite the not so great weather, here are some head shots Amanda got of me while I was there!
